Second Round Preview for the 20266 Zurich Classic | NOLA
The Zurich Classic | Entering Second Round
AVONDALE - Alex Smalley & Hayden Springer (1st/-14) combining on a (58) which equals the 18-hole Zurich Classic of New Orleans record in Four-ball. It tied Isaiah Salinda and Kevin Velo/2025/R1). The first round was highlighted by birdie-eagle-birdie start for Smalley and four consecutive birdies to close the round for Springer.
For Smalley, it’s his first lead/co-lead after any round on TOUR.
For Springer, he’s 0-for-2 with a first round lead: 2024 John Deere Classic/T7, 2024 Butterfield Bermuda Championship/T37).
To date, Patrick Cantlay/Xander Schauffele (2022) and Rory McIlroy/Shane Lowry (2024) are the only teams to convert 18-hole lead/co-lead to victory.
It’s a first-time pairing for Smalley and Springer at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans; Smalley is making his fourth tournament appearance (MC/2022, MC/2024, MC/2025), while Springer is making his third (MC/2024, T18/2025).
Each player on the winning team will receive 400 FedExCup points, $1,372,750 and a two-year exemption on the PGA TOUR (through 2028).
Today, it’s Foursomes (alternate shot) for the second and final rounds.
