AVONDALE - Matt Fitzpatrick/Alex Fitzpatrick (1st/-30) fired a third-round (57) in Four-ball, opening with a 7-under (29) and closing with an 8-under (28). The (57) set the tournament-low 18-hole score in the Four-Ball format since 2017. The previous best: 58; most recent: 2026/Springer/Smalley/R1).
The Fitzpatrick’s (186) set the 54-hole Zurich Classic of New Orleans record by one stroke with the previous record: (187)/Patrick Cantlay/Xander Schauffele/2022).
Fitz’s hold a four shot lead, heading into the final round, one shy of the largest 54-hole Zurich Classic of New Orleans lead (5: Patrick Cantlay/Xander Schauffele/2022).
A win would mark fifth career TOUR victory for Matt in his 186th start (2022 U.S. Open, 2023 and 2026 RBC Heritage, 2026 Valspar Championship).
Matt is seeking to become the first player in over two years to win in back-to-back events (Scottie Scheffler: 2024 Masters Tournament/2024 RBC Heritage).
For the final round, it’s Foursomes (alternate shot) with each player on the winning team receiving 400 FedEx Cup points, $1,372,750 and a two-year exemption on the PGA TOUR (through 2028).
