NEW ORLEANS - After opening with a tournament-record 58 in Four-ball, Isaiah Salinda/Kevin Velo posted a (69) in Foursomes. The duo closed with a 4-under (32) after opening with 1-over (37) on the way out. This marks the first lead/co-lead after any round on TOUR for both players.
The two PGA TOUR rookies are making their Zurich Classic of New Orleans debut and can join Puerto Rico Open winner Karl Vilips as the only rookie winner(s) so far this season. They can also become one of five first-time winners in 2025 with the most recent being Min Woo Lee/Texas Children’s Houston Open)
Velo made his 11th start of the season, now with three made cuts. His previous season-best was a T40 at the Puerto Rico Open.
Players in the top four teams on the leaderboard through two rounds are all in search of their first career PGA TOUR title: Salinda/Velo, Novak/Griffin, N. Højgaard and R. Højgaard, Bridgeman/Phillips.
Rory McIlroy/Shane Lowry (T16/-11) bogeyed three of their final six holes for a (69).
The teams will play better ball today and alternate shot Sunday. Each player on the winning team will receive 400 FedExCup points, $1,329,400, a two-year exemption on the PGA TOUR (through 2027) and entry into the three remaining Signature Events.
