PGA Tour Brunch - WM Phoenix Open Wrap-Up
@PGATourBrunch Recap of the '21 Waste Management Phoenix Open
WM Phoenix Open Tournament Review and Notes:
Brooks Koepka picked up his eighth PGA Tour victory in his 145th start. He claimed his first tour win at the 2015 Waste Management Phoenix Open, and became the 16th multiple winner of the event.
Kyoung-Hoon Lee finished a career-best T-2 runner-up in his 70th PGA Tour start.
Xander Schauffele has the most runner-up finishes (10) of any player since the start of the 2017-18 season. The 54-hole co-leader posted a final-round even-par (71) to finish T-2, his fourth top-20 finish in as many starts at the Waste Management Phoenix Open (2021/T-2, 2020/T-16, 2019/T-10, 2018/T-17); Schauffele has failed to win on four tries with a 54-hole lead/co-lead. He has the most runner-up finishes (10) of any player since the start of the 2017-18 season, including three this season.
Defending champion Webb Simpson finishes T-42.
Steve Stricker, who turns 54 later this month, finished T-4 in attempt to break Sam Snead’s record as the oldest player to win a PGA Tour event (52 years, 10 months, 8 days/1965 Wyndham Championship). It was Stricker’s first top-10 showing since the 2017 John Deere Classic (T-5).
In search of his first win since The Open Championship in 2017, 54-hole co-leader Jordan Spieth carded a final round 1-over (72) to finish T-4.

On This Day in Golf History:
February 8, 1963 - Johnny Miller fired a final round 63 and successfully defended his title at the Bob Hope Desert Classic, defeating Ric Massengale by three shots. Before the final round, Miller expressed supreme confidence in his game stating to reporters, “I’m not saying I will win. You can’t do that, but the way I’m playing, I’ll be surprised if I don’t win it again.” (Courtesy Randy Walker), Author of On This Day in Golf History, available via Amazon.com and by clicking HERE
