SCOTTSDALE - Scottie Scheffler is the odds-on favorite this week and do you wonder why?
Let’s count the ways:
Scottie Scheffler:
Is a two-time winner of the WM Phoenix Open (2022, 2023) is making his seventh career appearance in the event.
In six previous WM Phoenix Open starts, owns four top-10s including his two titles.
The 2022 WM Phoenix Open marked his first career PGA TOUR title (defeated Patrick Cantlay in a playoff).
Scheffler won his first start of the 2026 PGA TOUR season at The American Express, marking his 20th career PGA TOUR title.
He became the 40th player to reach 20 career wins and the first since Rory McIlroy reached the milestone in 2021.
Scheffler’s 20th win came in his 151st start on TOUR, marking the second-fewest starts to reach 20 wins (Tiger Woods/95).
This weekend, he seeks to win three consecutive starts on TOUR for the first time in his career (Procore Championship, The American Express); last player to win three consecutive starts on TOUR: Dustin Johnson (2017 Genesis Invitational, 2017 WGC-Mexico Championship, 2017 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play)
And, he seeks to become the fourth player to win the WM Phoenix Open three times, joining Mark Calcavecchia, Gene Littler, Phil Mickelson and Arnold Palmer.
