Third Round Coverage of the '26 Valspar Championship

PALM HARBOR - Welcome to third round coverage of the 2026 Valspar championship - or in your favorite reporter’s case - the ValsDoubleBogey Championship.
Sungjae Im (1st/-9) is the lone PGA TOUR winner among the top four players on the leaderboard. He holds 36-hole lead/co-lead for the fifth time on TOUR, most recently at the 2021 Shriners Children’s Open where he won). Overall, he is 1-for-4 in converting midway leads to victory.
Im made his third start on TOUR this season after suffering from a wrist injury in January. Of late, he MC/Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard, and MC/THE PLAYERS Championship)
Im made his fourth Valspar Championship appearance (T4/2019, T29/2021, MC/2024). Over career, owns two TOUR titles in 211 career starts with the most recent being the 2020 Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beach.
Defending champion Viktor Hovland (MC/+3) misses the cut for the first time on TOUR since the 2025 PLAYERS Championship; second consecutive year that the defending champion has missed the cut at this event (Peter Malnati).
Nine-time TOUR winner Brandt Snedeker (T5/-5) made his first cut in five starts this season while LIV → PGA Tour returning member Brooks Koepka (T10/-4) posted a back nine 4-under (31) en route to a second-round (67). He finished T9 and T13 in his last two starts in Florida.
Ninety hole-outs have occurred through 36 holes at the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook, the second-most hole outs on any course this season (110/TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course/72 holes)
Brian Campbell withdrew during the second round with a neck injury.

March 21, 1940 - Ben Hogan won his first PGA Tour title at the North-South Open at famed Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina. After building a seven shot lead in the opening rounds by shooting (66)-(67), Hogan holds on in the final two rounds (74)-(70) to defeat Sam Snead by three strokes.Hogan had been winless in his first seven years on tour and was on the verge of retiring from touring to be a full-time teaching professional.
