SAN ANTONIO - Mark Hubbard (1st/-7) - Upon completion, this outing would mark Hubbard’s sixth 18-hole lead/co-lead in stroke-play events on TOUR and first since 2022 Barracuda Championship where he finished 4th. Hubbard shared the 18-hole lead at the 2024 Zurich Classic of New Orleans with teammate Ryan Brehm but finished 3rd.
Hubbard’s eight birdies are tied with Will Zalatoris (T7/-5) and Adam Schenk (T15/-4) for the most in the round. He currently ranks third in both Shots Gained: Tee to Green (4.437) and Shots Gained: Around the Green (2.087).
Tony Finau (T2/-6) and Davis Thompson (T2/-6) were tied for the low round of the morning wave with a pair of (66). It marked Finau’s second-best score in 23 career rounds at TPC San Antonio (best: 65, 2017/R2). For Thompson, it ties his second-lowest 18-hole score this season nearing his best of (65) at the Puerto Rico Open/R3).
Robert MacIntyre (T2/-6) and Steven Fisk (T2/-6) are two of eight players bogey free in the first round.
Andrew Putnam (T2/-6) recorded his best score in his last 22 rounds on TOUR and his lowest 18-hole score in 22 career rounds in the Valero Texas Open. Yesterday was his first opening round in the 60s in nine starts in the event.
