First Round Coverage of the 2026 US Open | Shinnecock Hills
Note: The first round of the U.S. Open will resume at 9:05am EDT after a two-hour+ weather and fog delay. Play was suspended at 7:05am EDT, just 30 minutes after the play began. Only 18 golfers were out on the course when play was halted. After initially being held in place, players were brought back into the clubhouse as visibility issues persisted.

On This Day in Golf History
June 18, 1995 - In the 100th staging of the U.S. Open, Corey Pavin won his only major championship, finishing two strokes ahead of Greg Norman at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, NY (Long Island). Pavin started the day three strokes back of third-round leader Tom Lehman. Pavin shot a final round (68), highlighted by a four-wood approach shot on the 18th that skirted the flag.
