Second Round Coverage of the 2026 U.S. Open | Shinnecock Hills
Note: The first round of the U.S. Open was suspended due to fog at 7:05am Thursday and resumed at 9:05am, a (2-hour delay. Play was suspended again due to darkness at 8:25pm (EDT) with 50 players yet to complete their round. Those players were back in position at 6:35am today. Second round is now underway.
SOUTHAMPTON, NY - The partial leaderboard after most players completed their rounds was packed with former champions. Of the 12 past U.S. Open champions in the field, seven are currently T9 or better: Wyndham Clark (1st), Matt Fitzpatrick (T2), Dustin Johnson (T2), Gary Woodland (T2), Jon Rahm (T2), Rory McIlroy (T9), Bryson DeChambeau (T9).
