WISSAHICKON - In moderate to heavy rain, temperatures only reaching 60 degrees with wind blowing North to NW at 10-15 mph, sponsor exemption entry and opening round leader Keith Mitchell maintained his lead, shooting (67) in the second round. Mitchell (128 -12) holds a one stroke lead over Shane Lowry (129 -11). Seven top notch golfers are within five strokes of the lead.
This is Mitchell’s third career 36-hole lead/co-lead on TOUR and his first since 2021 THE CJ CUP @ SUMMIT. Overall, he’s 1-for-2 converting a 36-hole lead to victory.
He won/2019 Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches, and T3/2021 THE CJ CUP @ SUMMIT.
Mitchell leads the field in Strokes Gained: Putting (5.679) through two rounds and entered the week 104th on Tour in Strokes Gained: Putting this season (-.007). He is seeking to become the third player this season to hold the 18- and 36-hole lead and go on to win, joining Justin Thomas/RBC Heritage, Scottie Scheffler/THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson.
Three-time TOUR winner Shane Lowry (2nd/-11) posted (65) and is one of two players with one bogey through 36 holes, the other being Patrick Cantlay. Lowry has two Top-10s in Signature Events this season (2nd/AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, 7th/Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard).
Justin Rose - WD in the second round.
