2026 Truist Championship | Preview
CHARLOTTE - This week marks the 23rd playing of the Truist Championship, making its return to Quail Hollow Golf Club after a year off from Charlotte and the tournament being held at The Philadelphia Cricket Club in 2025. Quail Hollow was the home course for The PGA Championship last season.
This is the sixth of eight PGA TOUR Signature Events this season and the field includes seven of the Top 10 players in the Official World Golf Ranking: Rory McIlroy (No. 2), Cameron Young (No. 3), Matt Fitzpatrick (No. 4), Justin Rose (No. 5), Tommy Fleetwood (No. 7), J.J. Spaun (No. 9), Xander Schauffele (No. 10).
Seven past champions have returned to the Truist Championship: Sepp Straka (2025), Rory McIlroy (2010, 2015, 2021, 2024), Max Homa (2022, 2019), Jason Day (2018), Brian Harman (2017), Rickie Fowler (2012), Lucas Glover (2011). … McIlroy and Homa are the only players with multiple Truist Championship titles.
Looking back, six players earned the first victory of their PGA TOUR careers at the Truist Championship: (Wyndham Clark/2023, Max Homa/2019, Derek Ernst/2013, Rickie Fowler/2012, Rory McIlroy/2010, Anthony Kim/2008) … And, yes, we are all forever grateful that Clark’s parents didn’t stay at a Suisse Chalet that night.
Rickie Fowler is the only player with Top-10 finishes in each of the last three Signature Events (T9/Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard, T8/RBC Heritage, T9/Cadillac Championship).
