ATLANTA - Viktor Hovland (1st/-15) birdied four of his last six holes for a solid (65) and his second consecutive (31) on the back nine at East Lake Golf Club to take a one stroke lead going into the final round of the 2026 TOUR Championship. Hovland seeks his ninth career PGA TOUR victory in his 151st start and his second FedEx Cup title (2023).
This is his seventh career 54-hole lead/co-lead on TOUR with the most recent being at this summer’s 2026 Travelers Championship where he won. Hovland is a very strong and impressive 5-for-6 converting to victory.

Hovland is playing on his seventh consecutive TOUR Championship.
FedEx Cup and TOUR Championship Notes:
After opening with double bogey on No. 1, Ludvig Åberg (T3/-12) carded seven birdies and no bogeys over his final 17 holes for a 65. He’s seeking his third career PGA TOUR victory in his 76th start and would become the second FedExnCup Champion from Sweden (Henrik Stenson/2013).
The 2024 FedEx Cup Champion, Scottie Scheffler (T3/-12), posted a bogey-free 66 and seeks his third win on the PGA TOUR when trailing by three or more strokes entering the final round (2024 PLAYERS Championship/5 strokes, 2025 BMW Championship/4 strokes).
Chris Gotterup (T3/-12) seeks his sixth career PGA TOUR victory in his 91st start and a TOUR-most four wins this season. He trailed by two strokes or more entering the final round in all three wins this season (John Deere Classic/5 strokes, WM Phoenix Open/4 strokes, Sony Open in Hawaii/2 strokes).
Three-time FedExCup Champion Rory McIlroy (T7/-10) posted a scorching 63 to tie his career low round at East Lake Golf Club (R3/2022). McIlroy has two wins on TOUR when trailing by five or more strokes entering the final round (2022 TOUR Championship/6 strokes, 2016 Deutsche Bank Championship/6 strokes).
Both Scottie Scheffler (solo 13th or better) and Rory McIlroy (solo 4th or better) can surpass Tiger Woods on the PGA TOUR’s Career Money list this week.
