ATLANTA - Russell Henley (1st/-9) shot a bogey-free (61) which tied his career-low round in 308th career start (2025 Travelers Championship/R3; 2019 John Deere Classic /R4). He posted a (62) in the final round of the 2024 TOUR Championship a year ago.
Scottie Scheffler (T2/-7) carded a bogey-free (63), his lowest score in 21 career rounds at the TOUR Championship (previous: 65, four times; most recent: R1/2025). Scheffler is seeking to become the first player to win back-to-back FedExCup titles.
The 2017 FedEx Cup Champion, Justin Thomas (T3/-6), posted a front-nine 29, his lowest career nine-hole score at East Lake Golf Club. It was Thomas’ fifth sub-30 nine-hole score at East Lake Golf Club in the FedEx Cup era (since 2007).
The reigning 2024 TOUR Championship runner-up, Collin Morikawa (T3/-6), carded a bogey-free (64), his fourth consecutive opening round of 66 or better at East Lake Golf Club (66/2022, 61/2023, 66/2024).
And, 2021 FedExCup Champion, Patrick Cantlay (T3/-6), carded his best career opening round at the TOUR Championship in his eighth appearance (previous: 67/2021/Won).
Notes:
BMW Championship runner-up, Robert MacIntyre (T3/-6), opened with (64) in his second career TOUR Championship appearance. MacIntyre also posted a 64 in the final round of the 2024 TOUR Championship (T17).
Three of the six FedEx Cup Champions in the field are T3 or better after round one (2nd/Scottie Scheffler/2024, T3/Patrick Cantlay/2021, T3/Justin Thomas/2017).
