It’s Opening Weekend for the 2025 PGA Tour Season
KAPALUA, HAWAII - Welcome to the final round of The Sentry, the first tournament of the 2025 PGA Tour season.
The Good News: At 27-under, Hideki Matsuyama (65-65-62-192) has equalled the lowest 54-hole score in relation to par on the PGA TOUR (on record), and he joins Nick Dunlap (2024 American Express) and Patrick Reed (2014 American Express). The score also marks lowest 54-hole score to par at The Sentry since the event moved to Kapalua in 1999.
The CRAZY News: Matsuyama is only one stroke ahead of Collin Morikawa (66-65-62-193). Morikawa’s (193) marks his career-low 54-hole score, previously had (195) on two occasions, first at The Sentry in 2023 and later at the 2024 Travelers Championship. Morikawa hit 52 of 54 greens in regulation through three rounds of the tournament.
In his tournament debut, Thomas Detry (3rd) posted a career-low 54-hole score (197), with his previous best a (199) at the 2022 Butterfield Bermuda Championship. Detry is seeking his first PGA TOUR title in his 64th career start.
Sungjae Im (4th) drained nine birdies and one eagle to post an 11-under (62) on Saturday, which ties his career-low round on TOUR. He’s carded (62) three times previously, most recently during R3/2024 Baycurrent Championship - (Yokohama, Japan). The mark also ranks as his lowest score in 19 rounds at The Plantation Course at Kapalua.
As a signature event on Tour, The Sentry will be distributing a tournament purse of $20,000,000 today, with the winner collecting a check for a cool $3,600,000 and 700 FedEx Cup points.

January 5, 2013 - The start of the 2013 PGA Tour season was delayed for two days as winds over 40 mph prevented play here at the Plantation Course at Kapalua. “On the 10th hole, we dropped a ball on the back of the green and it rolled 20 yards off the front,” said Tour official Slugger White.
