KAPALUA, HAWAII - By winning the 2025 Sentry, Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama set a PGA TOUR scoring record for a 72-hole event and earned his 11th TOUR victory in his 265th start, coming at the age of 32 years, 10 months, 11 days.
Matsuyama’s other PGA TOUR wins (10): 2014 Memorial Tournament presented by Workday, 2016 WM Phoenix Open, 2016 WGC-HSBC Champions, 2017 WM Phoenix Open, 2017 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, 2021 Masters Tournament, 2021 Baycurrent Championship, 2022 Sony Open in Hawaii, 2024 Genesis Invitational, and the 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship.
His (257) equalled a personal best 72-hole total on TOUR (257; 2022 Sony Open in Hawaii/Won). The (257) also set the tournament scoring record, previously a (258) by Cameron Smith in 2022.
The performance over four rounds was the lowest score in relation to par in a 72-hole event since the start of the 1983 season: The record-setters are: 35-under (Hideki Matsuyama/2025 Sentry), 34-under (Cameron Smith/2022 Sentry), 33-under (Jon Rahm/2022 Sentry).
Matsuyama has the most all-time wins by an Asian player on TOUR: Hideki Matsuyama (11, Japan), K.J. Choi (8, South Korea). Matsuyama stashes 700 FedEx Cup points and moves to No. 1 in the FedEx Cup standings after finishing the 2024 season No. 9 in the FedExCup. He currently has 11 consecutive finishes inside the Top 50 in the FedExCup, the longest active streak on TOUR.
Matsuyama moved to No. 5 in the Official World Golf Ranking.
