PORTRUSH (Northern Ireland) - Scottie Scheffler dominated the field on Sunday and finished five strokes ahead of the pack to win the 153rd Open Championship.
Scheffler, the World No. 1 and FedExCup leader, picked-up his 17th PGA TOUR win in his 146th start at the age of 29 years, 29 days and moved into T-50 on the all-time wins list, tied with Bobby Cruickshank, Jim Furyk, Harold McSpaden and Curtis Strange.
Scheffler collected 750 points and retains the No. 1 spot in the FedEx Cup rankings, leading with three weeks to go before the FedEx Cup Playoffs.
The Open was the TOUR-best fourth win of the season for Scheffler: (THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson, PGA Championship, the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday, The Open Championship).
The 2025 season marks his third year with four or more wins: (2022/4, 2024/7, 2025/4).
The Open | Notes
Scheffler’s victory marked a record 12th consecutive year for first-time Open Championship winners.
Scheffler became the ninth player to win the Masters Tournament, PGA Championship and Open Championship in their career, the second this season as Rory McIlroy accomplished the feat by winning the Masters.
Scheffler now has only the U.S. Open to win to score the career slam.
Xander Schauffele finished a worthy T7 in title defense and has finished no lower than T28 (2025 PGA Championship) in 15 consecutive major championships, dating to a T13 at the 2022 PGA Championship. Schauffele now has 26 Top-20 finishes in 34 major championship starts.
Shane Lowry, winner of the 2019 Open Championship at Royal Portrush, finished T40 before hometown crowds.
