ROYAL BIRKDALE - Lucas Herbert (1st/-8) recorded a second-round 9-under (62) to match “the” all-time major 18-hole scoring record (any major). Glover’s previous career-low score in a major was a (67) (2022 The Open Championship/R4, 2024 PGA Championship/R2).
Glover’s (28) (-6) on the front nine tied the lowest nine-hole score in Open Championship history (Denis Durnian/R2/Royal Birkdale/1983).
Glover holds his first lead after any round in a major (previous best 36-hole position in a major: T12/2022 Open Championship) and is seeking to become the sixth Australian to win The Open and first since Cameron Smith (2022/St Andrews).
He’s also seeking to become the third Australian winner at Royal Birkdale: Peter Thomson (1954,1965), Ian Baker-Finch (1991).

Information on the Puntacana Championship
The 2026 Corales Puntacana Championship marks the ninth playing of the PGA TOUR’s first and only tournament in the Dominican Republic. The Corales Puntacana Championship has been co-sanctioned by the PGA TOUR and DP World Tour since 2022 as part of the Strategic Alliance between both Tours. The winner will receive 300 FedExCup points and a two-year exemption on the PGA TOUR, if not already exempt.
