DUBLIN, Ohio - The 2025 Memorial Tournament presented by Workday is the 25th of 36 events to make up the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup Regular Season.
The reigning 2024 Memorial champion, Scottie Scheffler, became the fourth winner of the Memorial Tournament to go on to win the FedEx Cup in the same season, There were three in the last four years: (Viktor Hovland/2023, Patrick Cantlay/2021, and Tiger Woods/2009).
Scheffler is making his fifth career tournament appearance (Won/2024, 3rd/2023, 3rd/2021, T22/2020) and with a win this week, would join Tiger Woods (1999-2001) as the only players to successfully defend their title at the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday.
Last weekend, Ben Griffin became the season’s fourth multiple winner (Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Sepp Straka) after taking the Charles Schwab Challenge for his second TOUR victory and first as an individual. (The Zurich Classic of New Orleans with Andrew Novak was his other victory).
Last weekend was the third consecutive week on TOUR where a player claimed his second title of the season (Sepp Straka/Truist Championship, Scottie Scheffler/PGA Championship).
One qualifying spot is available for The Open Championship and will go to the leading player (not otherwise exempt) who makes the cut at the Memorial Tournament
A playoff has decided the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday in six of the last 11 years. Most recently, it was 2023/Viktor Hovland defeating Denny McCarthy.
International players have won 14 of the first 23 events this season: Hideki Matsuyama/Japan, Nick Taylor/Canada, Sepp Straka/Austria/twice, Rory McIlroy/Northern Ireland/3, Thomas Detry/Belgium, Ludvig AÌŠberg/Sweden, Karl Vilips/Australia, Viktor Hovland/Norway, Min Woo Lee/Australia, Garrick Higgo/South Africa, and Ryan Fox/New Zealand.
