McKINNEY, TEXAS - Defending CJ CUP champion Taylor Pendrith, the 2024 winner, is attempting to become the fifth back-to-back champion (Sam Snead, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, K.H. Lee) at this event.
Pendrith became the first player to win THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson in his tournament debut since Aaron Wise (2018). He has three Top-10s finishes in 11 starts this season (T7/Farmers Insurance Open, T9/AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, T5/Texas Children's Houston Open).
Scottie Scheffler, a Dallas resident, will make his sixth start at the event and first at McKinney since 2023. He made his PGA TOUR debut here in 2014 as a 17-year-old amateur and finished T22. It is his third appearance at TPC Craig Ranch (T15/2022, T5/2023); opened with 64-64 in 2023 to hold the 36-hole lead.
On Wednesday, Will Zalatoris (WD) and was replaced by James Hahn, and Gary Woodland (WD) to be replaced by Cameron Champ.
TPC Craig Ranch will host THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson for the fifth time, honoring the legacy of the tournament namesake, Byron Nelson. This was the first PGA TOUR event to be named in honor of a professional golfer. Byron Nelson had 52 career PGA TOUR wins including a record 18 event titles (11 straight) in 1945.
