Third Round Preview of The American Express 2023 Golf

LA QUINTA - Seeking his first career PGA Tour title, Davis Thompson recorded five eagles through the first two rounds, tying the most eagles made in a 72-hole event on record (1983-present). Thompson, a PGA TOUR rookie, holds first 36-hole lead/co-lead on the Tour.
Jon Rahm, the 2018 American Express champion, sits solo-second in his bid to become the event’s 10th multiple winner while 2022 Shriners Children’s Open winner Tom Kim (currently T-3) joins Rahm in attempt to become the first multiple winner on Tour this season. Rahm won the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Maui the first week of January 2023.
World No. 2 Scottie Scheffler (T=9) is the only player bogey-free through 36 holes of the tournament.
In his bid for a fourth consecutive Top-10 finish in his fifth start at The American Express, Patrick Cantlay sits T-14 at 10-under (134).

Weather: In Denver, heading towards Kansas, there’s record snowfall. In the East, it’s col, damp and dreary. At the AMEX, it’s been sunny all week and today, there’s more of the same. A chilly wake-up call at 7:00am will temperatures in the low 40s, but by the 11:30am tee-times, it will be sunny, 60-degrees and low humidity (26%). Zero chance of rain and winds 3-4 mph.
