SAN ANTONIO - Ryan Palmer holds the 36-hole lead/co-lead for the 10th time on the PGA Tour (2-for-8 to date in individual stroke-play events and 1-for-1 in team events when he teamed with Jon Rahm to win the 2019 Zurich Classic of New Orleans).

Making his 500th career start on Tour, nine-time winner Matt Kuchar sits T-2.

First-round leader Russell Knox fell to T-27 following a second-round 4-over (76).

Defending champion Jordan Spieth is currently T-47 in bid to become the event’s first repeat winner since Zach Johnson (2009).

One week before defending his 2021 Masters Tournament title, Hideki Matsuyama withdrew mid-R-2 with a neck injury. Ben Kern and Kevin Tway both withdrew because of injuries.

Among the notables missing the cut: Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau, Jason Day, Rickie Fowler. DeChambeau missed the cut for the third time in as many attempts at the Valero Texas Open (2016/74-73, 2017/73-77, 2022/73-76).
