TOURNAMENT NOTES:

After an opening round two-over (72), world No. 1 Dustin Johnson is closing like a freight train. He recorded his second consecutive (66) and is the only player in the field with a round of (66) or better in both the second and third rounds.

Jason Day was asked if he’d have a slight advantage over Sam Burns and Carlos Ortiz with the fact he’s a 12-time PGA Tour winner. “I would say that I'd probably be a little bit more calmer than both those guys, but everyone's going to be nervous on the first tee. What I saw out of Carlos and Sam Burns, I think they're playing some pretty good golf, too, so they're going to be tough to beat,” said Day.

Carlos Ortiz is one of two players on the tour from Mexico with other being Abraham Ancer. Ortiz earned his PGA Tour card for the first time in 2014-15 after winning three times on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2014. He currently leads the field in Strokes Gained: Putting (6.785).
