On This Day in Golf History
July 11, 1973 - Gene Saracen, age 71, made a hole-in-one at the 123-yard, par three eighth hole at Troon, the famous “Postage Stamp” hole. Saracen used a 5-iron for his famous ace. The following day, on the same hole, he holed-out from the bunker for a “2” using a sand wedge, a club he invested and first used to win the 1932 Open Championship. - Courtesy of Randy Walker, Author of On This Day in Golf History, available via Amazon.com and by clicking HERE
