NORTH BERWICK - Xander Schauffele carded a final-round even-par (70) to defeat Kurt Kitayama by one stroke and earn the victory at the Genesis Scottish Open. Schauffele recorded his seventh PGA Tour win in his 135th start at the age of 28 years, 8 months, 15 days. He joined Scottie Scheffler (4) and Sam Burns (3) with three or more wins this season. A recent winner of the Travelers Championship, Schuaffele won back-to-back starts for the second time in his career and improved to 2-for-6 when attempting to convert a 54-hole lead on the Tour.

Kitayama, a two-time DP World Tour winner, finished as runner-up for the second time this season on the PGA Tour.

On This Day in Golf History

July 11, 1973 - Gene Saracen, age 71, made a hole-in-one at the 123-yard, par three eighth hole at Troon, the famous “Postage Stamp” hole. Saracen used a 5-iron for his famous ace. The following day, on the same hole, he holed-out from the bunker for a “2” using a sand wedge, a club he invested and first used to win the 1932 Open Championship. - Courtesy of Randy Walker, Author of On This Day in Golf History, available via Amazon.com and by clicking HERE
