DETROIT - Aldrich Potgieter (Winner/-22) earned his first PGA TOUR title in 20th start at 20 years, 9 months, 16 days. A 17-foot, 10-inch birdie putt on the fifth sudden death playoff hole (par-3 15th) made the difference as he became the seventh-youngest PGA TOUR winner since the start of the 1983 season.
Potgieter won the longest playoff on TOUR since 2021 BMW Championship (Patrick Cantlay def. Bryson DeChambeau/six holes) and became the youngest PGA TOUR winner from South Africa since 1983, with the previous being Garrick Higgo/ 22 years, 1 month, 1 day/2021 at Palmetto Championship at Congaree.
Potgieter is the only the third PGA TOUR winner under the age of 21 since the start of the 2020-21 season (Nick Dunlap/2024 American Express, 2024 Barracuda Championship; Tom Kim/2022 Wyndham Championship, 2022 Shriners Children’s Open). He’s the ninth first-time winner on TOUR this season, second TOUR rookie to win this season (Karl Vilips/Puerto Rico Open), and third player to make the Rocket Classic his first PGA TOUR victory (Nate Lashley/2019, Cam Davis/2021).
Potgieter earned 500 FedEx Cup Points and moves from No. 73 to No. 36 in the FedExCup standings.
