PGA Tour Brunch | Wraps-Up Today's RBC Heritage Monday Finish
By TERRY LYONS, Editor of Digital Sports Desk
Note: The first suspension play on Sunday was due to inclement weather and came at 4:28pm (EDT). Play resumed at 7:00pm (2 hours, 32 minutes). The second suspension, due to darkness, fell at 7:45pm EDT.
Play resumed this morning at 8:00am EDT and was completed at 8:41am. Nine players finished the round today, including tournament winner, Scottie Scheffler.
HILTON HEAD - Scottie Scheffler is entering the Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus zone as evidenced by the fact Scheffler today accomplished something that hasn’t been done since Woods won a major and the next PGA Tournament back-to-back in 2006.
Scheffler today became the first player to win a major and win on TOUR the following week since Woods won the PGA Championship and followed with a win at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
Scheffler is only the second player to win the Masters Tournament and RBC Heritage in back-to-back weeks, joining Bernhard Langer and his effort in 1985. Jack Nicklaus won both events in 1975, but the Wyndham Championship was staged in between the two tournaments.
Today marked Scheffler’s 10th PGA Tour win, his fourth win of 2024 and he also became the third player (and fifth instance) in the last 30 years to win or finish runner-up in five consecutive starts on TOUR:
Won/Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard
Won/THE PLAYERS Championship
T2/Texas Children’s Houston Open
Won/Masters Tournament
Won/RBC Heritage
