TORONTO - The RBC Canadian Open returns after two years of cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic and will be contested at St. George's Golf & Country Club in Toronto. The tournament was last played in 2019 at Hamilton G&CC in Hamilton, Ontario, where Rory McIlroy carded a final-round (61) to win by seven strokes en route to his second FedEx Cup title.

Three of the top 10 players in the current Official World Golf Ranking had not yet joined the Tour the last time this event was staged and current World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler had missed the cut at the previous week's REX Hospital Open on the Korn Ferry Tour 2019. No. 5 Collin Morikawa made his professional debut that week competing on a sponsor exemption and No. 7 Viktor Hovland earned low amateur honors the following week at the U.S. Open (T12).

The RBC Canadian is back at St. George's Golf & Country Club, the host of the Canadian Open five times, including 1933, 1949, 1960, 1968 and 2010. In 2010, Carl Pettersson won by one stroke over Dean Wilson.

During the first and second rounds, groups will start on Nos. 1 and 9 (rather than 1 and 10) for logistical reasons and the golf course features five par 3s and three par 5s (par 70 total).

This week, there are 20 players competing under the flag of Canada as Canadians will make-up 12 percent of the field. The 2021-22 PGA Tour member roster includes 10 players from Canada, third-most of any country outside the United States (14/England, 12/Australia). There are currently two Canadians in the Top 100 of the Official World Golf Ranking: No. 31 Corey Conners and No. 77 Mackenzie Hughes.

TL’s Wedge for an Edge: This week the PGA Fantasy Golf Tour takes us north of the USA border for the first time in two years as the pros play the RBC Canadian at St. Georges in Toronto. In most PGA TOUR Fantasy leagues, the segment was completed and your pool of available players gets a fresh start at “3.” … Leading my foursome, I see no reason not to start Scottie Scheffler. This week, I also like: Canada’s own Corey Connors, Justin Rose, and Matt Fitzpatrick to round out the starters. Reserves: With the refresh, I’ll park Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy, only to be inserted if one is leading on Saturday AM. For my Tour One and Done game? It’ll be a go for the hometown hero Connors, certainly never a hoser in Toronto.

I previously informed the USGA that I will not be competing in the @usopengolf as my body needs more time to get stronger for major championship golf. I do hope and plan to be ready to play in Ireland at @JPProAm and at @TheOpen next month. I’m excited to get back out there soon!
