RBC 🇨🇦 Canadian Wrap-Up
CALEDON (Ontario) - Ryan Fox and Sam Burns must’ve spent a day together, watching the motion picture “Groundhog Day,” starring avid golfer Bill Murray. Fox and Burns found themselves in a sudden death playoff for the championship of the 2025 Royal Bank of Canada Canadian Open, but to win, they kept playing the 18th hole of TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley over and over again.
In the final scene, it was Fox who crushed his second shot, had an eagle opportunity but calmly tapped-in for birdie-4 to win $1,764,000 while Burns settled for second and a measly $1,068,200.
It was the 26th of 36 PGA Tour events with the 2025 United States Open coming this week at Oakmont.
Ryan Fox earned his second PGA TOUR title in his 71st start at the age of 38 years, 4 months, 17 days. Earlier this year, he pocketed his first PGA TOUR victory in a playoff over Mackenzie Hughes and Harry Higgs at the 2025 ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic.
With the win, Fox became the fifth multiple winner on TOUR this season (Rory McIlroy/3, Scottie Scheffler/3, Ben Griffin/2, Sepp Straka/2).
Fox earned 500 FedEx Cup points and it moved him from No. 60 to No. 25 in the FedExCup standings.
