Speith, Two Others Fire 64s to Begin SONY Open in Hawaii

HONOLULU - At 6-under (64), Chris Kirk, Jordan Spieth and Taylor Montgomery share the first-round lead at the Sony Open in Hawaii. (Records with the 18-hole lead/co-lead in individual stroke-play: Kirk (0-for-6), Spieth (3-for-11), Montgomery (his first time)).
The first round was suspended due to darkness at 6:11pm with 10 players yet to complete the round. Those players will be back in position at 8am (local) today, with the second round beginning as scheduled at 7:10am (local).
Defending champion Hideki Matsuyama turned in his 12th consecutive under-par round at the Sony Open in Hawaii, matching the longest active streak at the event. He shot a two-under (68).
Ryan Armour aced No. 17 for his second hole-in-one of the season, joining Wyndham Clark for most on Tour. Do we hear three?

Rory Sabbatini and Jerry Kelly opened with rounds of 65 and 70, respectively, in their 25th straight start at the Sony Open in Hawaii. Neither player has missed a start since SONY took over as title sponsor of the event in 1999.
2008 Sony Open champion K.J. Choi’s (66) marked his 17th par-or-better opening round in 19 starts at this event.
