HONOLULU - Will the streak continue? Since the Tour went to a wraparound schedule in 2013-14, six of the nine winners of the Sony Open in Hawaii entered the week of the tournament in the Top 10 of the FedExCup standings. That suggests one of the following players will win:

Tom Kim, the highest-ranked player in the field in the FedExCup (No. 3) is making his tournament debut. With wins at the 2022 Wyndham Championship and 2022 Shriners Children’s Open, Kim became the first player since Tiger Woods to win twice on the PGA TOUR before turning 21.

Keita Nakajima, formerly the top-ranked player in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, is making his second PGA Tour start as a professional after finishing T-12 at the 2022 ZOZO Championship. Nakajima will be making his second start at the Sony Open in Hawaii after beginning his tournament debut in 2022 with rounds of 67-64 and stood T5 before finishing 41st.

TV COVERAGE: The first two rounds (Today and January 13) of the SONY Open are scheduled for TV coverage from 7:00pm to 10:30pm (ET) on Golf Channel. On Saturday and Sunday, coverage is set for 6:00pm to 8:00pm (ET) on Golf Channel preceded by 4:00 to 6:00pm (ET) on NBC

PGA TOUR LIVE STREAMING: ESPN+ will be streaming live coverage from 12:00 noon to 10:30pm (ET) today and Friday. Weekend streaming on ESPN+ from 12:45pm to 8:00pm (ET)

PGA TOUR RADIO COVERAGE: SiriusXM Radio will have live coverage of the SONY beginning at 5:00pm to 10:30pm (ET) today and continuing Friday. SONY Open | The Basics

The Tee Times at the SONY Open for today are from 12:10pm (ET) to 6:40pm (ET).

Weather: Today and Friday will be near duplicates with mostly sunny/sunny skies and 72-73-degrees with winds expected at 7-11mph. There’s a 0% chance of rain for the first three days of the tournament. The weekend forecast (Saturday/Sunday) should be fine, with only a 20% chance of rain Sunday but slightly windier at 15 mph.

On This Day in Golf History

January 12, 2015 - Patrick Reed won the Tournament of Champions at Kapalua on the first hole of a sudden death playoff with Jimmy Walker. Reed, who trailed Walker by four shots with four holes to play, made eagle two from 80-yards out in the fairway at the 16th hole.The then-24 year old Reed made an 18-footer to win his fourth PGA Tour title, joining Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, and Sergio Garcia to win at that rate.
