PGA Tour Brunch Coverage Leading Into the Second Round of the PGA
PGA Championship | Second Round Today
Note: Due to darkness, the first round was suspended at 8:30pm ET with 33 players yet to complete their round. The first round will resume at 7am ET today. The second round will begin as scheduled at 7am (ET).
ROCHESTER, NY - World No. 1 Jon Rahm (T-117) carded a 6-over (76), tying his highest score in 23 rounds in the event (76/R3/2022/Finished T-48). Round 1 marked his ninth career round on Tour with a score of +6 or higher (relative to par). Rahm has made the cut in the last 16 majors, the longest active streak (last missed cut in a major: 2019 PGA Championship).
Eric Cole, a PGA Tour rookie, made his second major start (MC/2021 U.S. Open) and first ever at the PGA Championship. He sits at (-5) after 14 holes of the first round. He made his 24th career start on Tour and has never held a lead after any round.
Bryson DeChambeau is back in form and his (66) tied his low opening round in a major (66/R1/2019 Masters/Finished T29) and his low round in 17 rounds at a PGA Championship event (recorded back-to-back 66s in the third and final rounds of the 2020 PGA Championship to finish T-4).
Scottie Scheffler’s 3-under (67) marked his first bogey-free round in a major in his 15th major start (51 rounds). He opened a major with a (67) or better for the third time: 66/R1/2020 PGA Championship/Finished T4, 67/R1/2021 Open Championship/Finished T8, 67/R1/2023 PGA Championship/TBD
The 2022 Masters champion seeks a second major title after winning the 2022 Masters.
