On This Day in Golf History:
February 5, 1984 - In perhaps the luckiest bounce in the history of the Pebble Beach, Hale Irwin’s tee shot on the final hole of the Bing Crosby National Pro Am hooked towards the ocean only to hit a rock and bounce back into play, Irwin trailed Jim Nelford by one stroke, made birdie on the final hole to force sudden death playoff. Irwin won the tournament on the second hole of the playoff for his 16th career PGA Tour title. - Courtesy of Randy Walker, Author of On This Day in Golf History, available via Amazon.com and by clicking HERE
