PEBBLE BEACH - Russell Henley shot a first-round 8-under (64) at Spyglass Hill Golf Course and holds a one-stroke lead over six players. Henley holds the 18-hole lead/co-lead for the ninth time on TOUR but is 0-for-8 converting the first-round lead/co-lead to victory.
Henley is making third start of the season (T30/The Sentry, T10/Sony Open in Hawaii) and the first on the mainland.
ACES: Rory McIlroy is making his season debut. The three-time FedEx Cup Champion and 26-time PGA TOUR winner sits (T8/-6) but aced the par 3 15th hole with a 54-degree wedge from 119 yards at Spyglass Hill Golf Course, his second hole-in-one all-time on TOUR (2023 Travelers Championship/R1/No. 8).
Shane Lowry (T8/-6) recorded a hole-in-one on the par-3 No. 7 with a 54-degree wedge from 113 yards at Pebble Beach Golf Links, his third ace all-time on TOUR (2016 Masters/R4/No. 16, 2022 PLAYERS Championship/R3/No. 17).
Thursday marked the first time since 2009 multiple aces (2) were recorded in a round at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The most all-time came in R2 of 1989 when (3) were recorded.
Making his season debut, World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler (T15) opened with a 5-under (67) at Spyglass Hill Golf Course. His best finish in his season debut on TOUR: T5/2024 Sentry in Hawaii.
Making his first start as a touring member, PGA TOUR rookie Rasmus Højgaard (T2/-7) earned his card as the leading finisher from the 2024 DP World Tour Race to Dubai. The last to win in first start as a TOUR member was Emiliano Grillo (2015 Procore Championship).

The Tee Times at Pebble Beach run from 11:35pm (ET) to 1:32pm (ET).
Weather: Friday’s forecast calls for increasing possibility of afternoon showers. Temperatures ranging from a cool 43-degrees to 57. Winds will blow at 4-8 mph but gusts up to 20 mph. Intermittent showers are expected Saturday with chances slowly decreasing overnight into Sunday. Southerly winds will develop Friday late afternoon and onwards. Gusts through the extended weekend could range between 20-25mph at times, peaking on Saturday.

January 31, 1982 - Jack Nicklaus shot a (then) course record (64) in the final round at Torrey Pines (South Course) but fell one shot shy of Johnny Miller who won the Andy Williams San Diego Open.
