John Deere Classic: Tourney Notebook
First time winners are always a big trend at the John Deere Classic and a part of the reason is the fact many of the top players are already in Europe or on the way to The Open Championship in Great Britain.
The John Deere Classic will be played for the 50th time, dating back to the inaugural event in 1971. The tournament was not played in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was replaced on the schedule by the Workday Charity Open at Muirfield Village Golf Club.
The top player, not previously exempt for The Open Championship, from the top five and ties at the John Deere Classic will qualify for the season’s final major championship next weekend. There are 14 players in the field at both the John Deere Classic and The Open:
Byeong Hun An
Lucas Glover
Zach Johnson
Sebastian Munoz
C.T. Pan
Daniel Berger
Brian Harman
Danny Lee
Kevin Na
Chez Reavie
Rafa Cabrera Bello
Russell Henley
Keith Mitchell
Alex Noren
