Mayakoba Golf Classic Notes & Quotes
Viktor Hovland shot closing six under (65) to notch his second career PGA Tour win in just his 35th tour start, finishing (-20). Hovland earned $1,296,000 and 500 FedEx Cup points in the last PGA tourney of 2020. The Mayakoba Golf Classic was the 12th of 50 events on the 2020-21 PGA Tour schedule.
Hovland became the fifth European player since 1945 with multiple PGA Tour wins before the age of 24 and is the youngest winner since Sungjae Im at 2020 The Honda Classic.
Emiliano Grillo, the 54-hole leader, shot +1 (72) and finished in a four-way T-8 at (-15).
Of the six players representing Mexico this pastweek, Carlos Ortiz had the best performance, finishing T-8 with Grillo, Brandon Todd and Tony Finau at (-15).
