PALM BEACH GARDENS - Chris Kirk won The Honda Classic in a Playoff over Eric Cole, with Kirk earning his fifth PGA Tour title and first since the 2015 Charles Schwab Challenge with the victory coming in his 179th start since that 2015 tournament to snap a winless drought of 7 years, 9 months, 2 days.
Kirk’s 14-under marked the lowest winning score since the tournament moved to PGA National in 2007 with the previous low being 13-under by Camilo Villegas in 2010.
Cole finished runner-up for the first time on the Tour and moved to No. 33 in the FedEx Cup standings.
The Playoff was the second on the PGA Tour this season, joining the Sanderson Farms Championship and 10th in tournament history, but the first since 2018.
With a solo-fourth, Ryan Gerard became the first Open Qualifier to finish in the Top Five of a PGA Tour event since Doc Redman at the 2019 Rocket Mortgage Classic where he finished second. The Top-10 finish earned Gerard a spot in next week’s Puerto Rico Open.
