The Genesis Invitational - Second Round Preview & Notes

Sam Burns holds the largest 36-hole lead in tournament history (five strokes) and tied the 36-hole tournament scoring record with his 64-66 (130). Burns holds the third 36-hole lead/co-lead of his PGA Tour career, but he finished T-7 on both prior occasions.

Tyler McCumber is in a four-way T-2 after having surgery on his left index finger Tuesday. McCumber is joined at “2” with Jason Kokrak, Dustin Johnson and Joaquin Niemann.

After slamming his left index finger in a sliding glass door Tuesday, Tyler McCumber (T-2) with 67-68, (-7) required surgery on the finger which allowed him to make his first appearance at The Genesis Invitational. McCumber posted a T-2 behind Thomas Pieters at 2012 NCAA Championship played here at Riviera CC.

Notables to miss the cut include Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia, Justin Thomas, Bubba Watson and Bryson DeChambeau.

U.S. Amateur champion Tyler Strafaci withdrew with a shoulder injury before the second round

Tournament Tee Times begin today at 8:04am (local)/11:04am ET (link)

Cameron Tringale, MacKenzie Hughes and James Hahn will tee-off from No. 1 at 8:04am (local)/11:04am (ET) while Viktor Hovland, Scott Piercy and Matthew NeSmith head toNo. 10 to begin their third rounds at Riviera CC.

The leaders tee-off at 10:05am (local)/1:05pm (ET).

Weather for the Weekend: Saturday and Sunday forecasts call for increased winds, 15-20 mph with gusts 25 mph. Mostly sunny, though with temps in 48-62 degree range today and 49-71 degrees Sunday.

February 20, 1994 - Scott Hoch broke out of a five year winless drought to score a victory at The Bob Hope Desert Classic by shooting a final round (70) to defeat Fuzzy Zoeller, Jim Gallagher Jr. and Lennie Clements by three strokes.
