The Genesis Invitational | Final Round
LOS ANGELES - Jacob Bridgeman (1st/-19) carded a second consecutive 7-under (64), the low round of the day, to hold a commanding six shot lead going into today’s final round of the Genesis Invitational at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades.
“The Riv” will be the site of the golf competitions at the 2028 Summer Olympics.
Bridgeman is competing to become the very first - first-time PGA TOUR winner - this season, the 13th first-time winner at this event, and first since 2015 (James Hahn).
Bridgeman is holding his second 54-hole lead/co-lead on TOUR (2025 Valspar Championship/finished 3rd), but he is 0-for-1 in converting to victory to date.
Rory McIlroy (2nd/-13) is in the midst of his 10th appearance at The Genesis Invitational, and his 13-under marks his low 54-hole score to par at The Genesis Invitational. His previous best 54-hole score to par at Riviera was 10-under, twice/2016, 2020).
Despite the great score, McIlroy sits six strokes back. The largest 54-hole deficit to overcome in his PGA TOUR career: 6 strokes, twice/2022 TOUR Championship, 2016 Dell Technologies Championship. McIlroy has the fewest bogeys of any player in the tournament through three rounds (2).

February 21, 1994 - Tom Watson sank a 30-foot birdie putt on the third hole of a sudden death playoff against Johnny Miller to win his 29th PGA Tour title at the Glen Campbell Los Angeles Open at Riviera CC. Watson, winless in eight months prior, benefitted from Miller making bogey on 17 and 18 to allow for the playoff.(Courtesy of Randy Walker), Author of On This Day in Golf History, available via Amazon.com and by clicking HERE
