First Look at Waste Management Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale, Arizona
Five of the top 10 in the Official World Golf Ranking are scheduled to compete, led by World No. 2 and Arizona State alum Jon Rahm.
Webb Simpson returns in his bid to become the third player since 1970 to successfully defend the Waste Management Phoenix Open title. Simpson’s 2020 playoff victory over Tony Finau marked the fourth playoff in the last five years of the event at TPC Scottsdale.
Special temporary member Will Zalatoris comes into the week following a (T-7) at the Farmers Insurance Open, his fourth top-10 of the season. Not too shabby.

TL’s Wedge Edge - There’s no way you can overlook reigning champion Webb Simpson and you MUST note that previously hot Tony Finau is NOT in the field. That makes me look harder at Xander Schauffele. The question then becomes who are your other two players in your fantasy foursome and two alternates (bench) players if you play the PGA Tour Fantasy game.
Daniel Berger is worth a very good look, as is Gary Woodland.
Two others to consider as more of the long shot types are Bubba Watson (40-1) and young Will Zalatoris (45-1)
For One and Done? I’m overlooking Jon Rahm, the fave, and will be on Schauffele.
