The Genesis Invitational - Second Round Preview & Notes

Play was suspended at 10:08 a.m. PT due to inclement weather (high winds), with all but the last group having teed off. Play resumed at 2:02 p.m. for a total delay of 3 hours, 54 minutes.

The third round was delayed due to darkness at 5:45 p.m. with 23 players yet to complete their round. Those players will be back in position at 6:50 a.m. Sunday, with final-round tee times scheduled to begin at approximately 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. off split tees.

The last time play was suspended in a PGA Tour event - due to high winds - was the 2016 Farmers Insurance Open (final round), which included inclement weather consisting of rain and high winds.

At the conclusion of play Saturday, third-round scoring average stands at 73.336; would be the toughest third-or final-round average at the event on record (since 1983).

After entering the day with the largest 36-hole lead in tournament history (five strokes), Sam Burns now leads Matthew Fitzpatrick by two strokes at the time of the suspension of play.

With five holes left to play in his third round, 2017 champion Dustin Johnson sits three strokes off the lead.

Tournament Tee Times begin today with players in position of their third round at 6:50am (local)/9:50am ET. The final round will have tee-offs in the 8:30am (local)/11:30am (ET) range.

Weather: Sunday forecast calls for sun but more winds, 15-20 mph. Mostly sunny skies with temp in 49-71 degree range today.

The PGATourBrunch Monday recap will be delivered to subscribers for your lunchtime enjoyment at Noon (ET) on February 22.

February 21, 1994 - Tom Watson sank a 30-foot birdie putt on the third hole of a sudden death playoff against Johnny Miller to win his 29th PGA Tour title at the Glen Campbell Los Angeles Open at Riviera CC. Watson, winless in eight months prior, benefitted from Miller making bogey on 17 and 18 to allow for the playoff.
