Final Round Coverage of the First Event of '25 FedEx Cup Playoffs
By TERRY LYONS, Editor of Digital Sports Desk
MEMPHIS - Tommy Fleetwood of England (1st/-14), a seven-time DP World Tour winner, is playing for his first TOUR victory in 162nd start at the age 34 years, 6 months, 22 days. Fleetwood has registered six runner-up finishes and 42 Top-10 finishes, the most of any player without a win on TOUR since 1983.
At No. 9, Fleetwood is the highest-ranked player in the 2025 FedEx Cup standings without a victory on the PGA TOUR, but with a win, he’d be projected to climb to No. 2 in the FedEx Cup standings, behind only Scottie Scheffler.
Fleetwood could become the 13th first-time winner on TOUR this season.
Hot on Fleetwood’s trail is fellow Englishman Justin Rose (2nd/-13), the 2018 FedEx Cup Champion who seeks 12th PGA TOUR win in 443rd start at the age 45 years, 11 days. Rose is in pursuit of his first win on TOUR since the 2023 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Right behind Rose is a surging Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 player in the world who seeks his 18th PGA TOUR victory and fifth of the 2025 season. Scheffler is the reigning FedEx Cup Champion, and with a victory at East Lake in a couple weeks, could become first back-to-back winner of the FedEx Cup.
