TORREY PINES - Billy Horschel holds a one-stroke lead after 18 holes at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. Horschel converted his only previous 18-hole lead/co-lead on Tour to victory way back at the 2014 TOUR Championship

Each of the last three winners of the Farmers Insurance Open have opened the event on the North Course.

Michael Thompson posted a bogey-free (64) which marked his lowest score in 31 rounds at this event.

Rickie Fowler stands T-5 (-6) which marked his best 18-hole position at the event since T-2 back in 2011 when finished T-20

Of the 30 players that shot 67-or-better, only four did so on the South Course: Jon Rahm (T-5), Luke List (T-9), Peter Malnati (T-9), Cameron Tringale (T-9). The South Course is considered one of the toughest 18 on Tour.

On This Day in Golf History:

January 27, 2008-  Tiger Woods made a 10-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to shoot one-under (71) to clinch an eight shot victory at the Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines. It marked his fourth straight title at Torrey Pines and third straight PGA Tour victory that season. Woods returned to Torrey Pines five months later and won the U.S. Open for the third time. - Courtesy of Randy Walker, Author of On This Day in Golf History, available via Amazon.com and by clicking HERE
