McKINNEY, TEXAS - After being 5-under through six holes to start his round, Matt Wallace produced a bogey-free 8-under (63), his career-low score over 319 rounds on the PGA TOUR. His previous low: (64), accomplished three times and most recently at the 2024 WM Phoenix Open in R2.
Wallace holds the 18-hole lead/co-lead for only the second time on TOUR, with the prior being the 2020 RSM Classic where he finished T37.
Canada’s Taylor Pendrith (T2/-7) owns two Top-10s this season (T10/Sony Open in Hawaii, T9/Farmers Insurance Open) and comes into the week off consecutive T11 results (Corales Puntacana Championship, Zurich Classic of New Orleans).
In his fourth appearance at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson, Sweden’s Alex Noren (T2/-7) posted his fourth round of (64) or better at this event (64/R1/2024, 63/R2/2022, 64/R4/2022, 64/R2/2021).
