PGA Tour Brunch Previews This Week's Event at The Colonial (DFW)
DALLAS/FORT WORTH - Since 1946, the Colonial Country Club has hosted a PGA Tour event, marking the longest running non-major tour event to be held at the same venue.
The tournament’s 2022 runner-up Scottie Scheffler enters the Charles Schwab Challenge as the No. 1 player in the Official World Golf Ranking after regaining the honor by finishing T-2 at last week's PGA Championship.
This is Scheffler's fourth start at the Charles Schwab Challenge (T55/2020, MC/2021, P2/2022). He has seven Top-10s in Texas (17 total starts), including a win (2022 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play) and three runner-up finishes (2021 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, 2021 Cadence Bank Houston Open, 2022 Charles Schwab Challenge).
2022 PGA Professional Player of the Year Michael Block, who finished T-15 at last week's PGA Championship, is competing at the Charles Schwab Challenge on a sponsor exemption. Block, the head professional at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Mission Viejo, California, is making his third start of the season and 26th of his PGA TOUR career.
Norway’s Viktor Hovland is coming off a T-2 at last week's PGA Championship and is making his third career start at the Charles Schwab Challenge (T23/2020, T21/2022). Hovland is the only player to finish in the Top 10 in each of the last three majors and is one of two players (along with Scheffler) to finish in the Top 10 in each of the three 600-point FedEx Cup events this season (T-3/THE PLAYERS Championship, T-7/Masters Tournament, T-2/PGA Championship).
