FT. WORTH - Davis Riley will attempt to join Ben Hogan (1946-47, 1952-53) as the only back-to-back winners of the Charles Schwab Challenge (Colonial Golf Club). Riley finished T2 at last week’s PGA Championship for his best finish in eight major championship starts. His previous best: T13/2022 PGA Championship).
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, the reigning FedExCup champion and 15-time PGA TOUR winner, is in search of third victory of the season (THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson, and last weekend’s PGA Championship). Scheffler is making his sixth start at the Charles Schwab Challenge, with three straight top-three finishes (T2/2024, T3/2023, 2nd/2022).
Jordan Spieth, the 2016 Charles Schwab Challenge winner, which was one of 13 PGA TOUR victories, this week seeks his first TOUR title since the 2022 RBC Heritage. Spieth missed the cut at the PGA Championship last week in bid to become the seventh player to win the Career Grand Slam.
The Colonial golf course challenges players with its difficult three-hole stretch of No. 3-to-No. 5 - dubbed the “Horrible Horseshoe” - by the late golf writer and Texas native Dan Jenkins.
