WILMINGTON - Patrick Cantlay became the first player to successfully defend a FedEx Cup Playoffs event, winning the BMW Championship by one stroke over Scott Stallings. Cantlay became the fifth player to defend a title this season, the most since 2007. He’ll enter the TOUR Championship at No. 2 in the standings in bid to become the first back-to-back FedEx Cup Champion.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler (T-3) regained the FedEx Cup standings lead, a week after seeing his 23-week hold on the top spot come to an end.

Three-time PGA Tour winner Scott Stallings finished runner-up for the third time to advance to the TOUR Championship for the first time in his 12-year career.

Four players moved into the Top 30 in the FedEx Cup points race to advance to the season-finale at East Lake next weekend: Stallings, K.H. Lee, Adam Scott and Aaron Wise. The addition of four players tied the most since the FedEx Cup points structure changed in 2009).

with four in, there had to be four out. The four players who fell out of the Top 30 and failed to advance to East Lake: J.J. Spaun, Joohyung Kim, Davis Riley and Kevin Kisner.

Two rookies advanced to the TOUR Championship: Cameron Young and Sahith Theegala.

Jon Rahm and Adam Scott are the only two players to finish inside the Top 10 in each of the first two FedEx Cup Playoffs events with Rahm picking-up his eighth consecutive Top-10 finish in FedExCup Playoffs events, the longest streak in Playoffs history.
