@PGATourBrunch and @DigSportsDesk Coverage of Final Round at BMW
WILMINGTON - The final round of the BMW Championship will begin with a stacked leaderboard of familiar names and past major champions all seeking to qualify for next week’s elite TOUR Championship, the final event of the 2021-22 FedEx Cup.
Currently on top of the leaderboard, Patrick Cantlay is seeking to become the first player to successfully defend a FedExCup Playoffs event while a win for Xander Schauffele - only one shot off the lead - would mark his fourth PGA TOUR title in his last 10 starts.
Cantlay and Schauffele will be paired together in the final round having been paired together in the first three rounds. The duo won the 2022 Zurich Classic of New Orleans as teammates and were also partners at the 2021 Ryder Cup.
Second-round leader Adam Scott sits T-4 and two back after a 2-under (69).
With a good final round showing, Scott Stallings can reach the season-finale TOUR Championship for the first time in his 12-year career.
Cantlay, Jon Rahm, Collin Morikawa and Brendan Steele shared low rounds of the day (65) on Saturday.
FedExCup leader Will Zalatoris withdrew during the round with a back injury.
