PGA Tour Brunch Wraps-Up the Arnold Palmer Bay Hill and Puerto Rico Open

ORLANDO - Kurt Kitayama won the 2023 Arnold Palmer Invitational, presented by Mastercard, earning his first PGA TOUR victory in his 50th career start. Kitayama became the first player since Robert Gamez in 1990 to win in his tournament debut
Kitayama became the second first-time winner of the season and first since Adam Svensson at The RSM Classic. He also became the first player to record a triple bogey in the final round (No. 9) and go on to win on Tour since Viktor Hovland (2020 Puerto Rico Open).
The 2019 Palmer winner, Rory Mcllroy, and Harris English finished T-2/runners-up while 2022 champion Scottie Scheffler finishe4 T-4 in his second title defense of the season.
Kitayama, English and Davis Riley earned spots in The 151st Open Championship via the Open Qualifying Series.
Jon Rahm finished T-39, snapping a streak of six consecutive Top-10s to start the season. Rahm remained No. 1 in the FedExCup standings and Official World Golf Ranking.

On This Day in Golf History
March 6, 1972 - Jack Nicklaus won the Doral Eastern Open in Miami, earning a first prize paycheck of $30,000 which put him ahead of Arnold Palmer on the all-time PGA Tour money list. At the time, Nicklaus had pocketed $1,477,200.86 in 11 years while Palmer made $1,471,226.83 in winnings over 18 years.
