Scoreboard watching becomes the norm at the 3M Open as the PGA Tour enters the final month of its regular season in advance of the FedExCup Playoffs. The Top 125 players, ranked by their FedExCup points, qualify for the Northern Trust (August 19-22). After the 3M Open and the break for the Summer Olympic Games, the Tour concludes with the Barracuda (August 5-8) and the WGC-St. Jude’s Invitational (also August 5-8) and the Wyndham (August 12-15).
World No. 2 Dustin Johnston comes into this week’s 3M Open after his T-8 at The Open last weekend. In his first 3M Open start last year, DJ had to WD after R-1 with a back injury.

On This Day in Golf History:
July 22, 2001 - David Duval won his only major championship when he took The Open at Royal Lytham St. Annes in England, winning the tournament by three strokes after posting a final round (67). Duval had four great chances at the Masters in Augusta, two at the U.S. Open and one in The Open in 2000 before he broke through with the win. - Courtesy of Randy Walker, Author of On This Day in Golf History, available via Amazon.com and by clicking HERE
