OAKMONT, (Pennsylvania) - Sam Burns carded his low 18-hole score in a U.S. Open with a scorching 65. His previous low was (67) performed three times; 2024/Pinehurst No. 2/R4; 2024/Pinehurst No. 2/R2; 2022/The Country Club/R2).
Burns clocked his low 36-hole score in a major (137) with the previous low: (138) done two times; 2022 U.S. Open; 2022 PGA Championship).
Burns’ 3-under is the highest score-to-par for the 36-hole lead at the U.S. Open since 2013 (1-under/Phil Mickelson, Billy Horschel/Merion Golf Club).
Victor Perez (T6) made a hole-in-one on No. 6. It was his first ace on the PGA TOUR and the 16th ace of the 2025 season on TOUR. It was also the 54th ace in U.S. Open history.
