CALEDON (Ontario) - Ben James (1st/-10), the 23-year-old making his professional debut after finishing as the No. 1 player in the 2026 PGA TOUR University Ranking, recorded a career-best 18-hole score with a bogey-free 7-under (63), his first bogey-free round in his 24th round on TOUR. His previous best was Round 1: 67/R1/2026 RBC Canadian Open.

James holds first lead after any round on TOUR with his previous best being the 36-hole position: T13/2025 Valero Texas Open. He made two PGA Tour cuts in nine prior starts as an amateur (T44/2024 Rocket Classic, T33/2025 Valero Texas Open).

James joined Ludvig Aberg (2023), Michael Thorbjornsen (2024), and David Ford (2025) as the fourth player to earn TOUR membership as the No. 1 player from PGA TOUR University. James finished his college career at Virginia (2022-26) with seven victories, tying Ben Kohles’ school record for career wins and led the Cavaliers to the program’s first two ACC Championships (2025, 2026) and a national runner-up finish in 2025.

CALEDON (Ontario) - It’s getting crowded up there!

The 2026 RBC Canadian Open first round marks the second time since 1970 that there are six or more co-leaders after 18 holes of the 🇨🇦 Canadian Open (7 in 2008). In fact, this year’s tournament is tied for the second most 18-hole co-leaders on TOUR this season (7/PGA Championship, 6/Charles Schwab Challenge).

Sam Burns (T1/-6) shares the 18-hole lead one year after finishing runner-up in the 2025 RBC Canadian Open (defeated by Ryan Fox on the fourth playoff hole). Burns owns three top-10 finishes in four previous starts in the RBC Canadian Open (T4/2022, MC/2023, T10/2024, 2nd/2025) and has not recorded a score worse than 68 in five career rounds at TPC Toronto.

Sponsor exemption and Mississauga, Ontario native Matthew Anderson (T1/-6) is making his fourth career PGA TOUR start this week (three prior starts were all in the RBC Canadian Open: MC/2019, MC/2024, T47/2025). Anderson played primarily on the Korn Ferry Tour over the last two years, totaling five top-25 finishes in 38 starts; owns one PGA TOUR-sanctioned title at the 2024 69th ECP Brazil Open on PGA TOUR Americas.

CALEDON (Ontario) - The 2026 RBC Canadian Open is the 24th of 34 FedEx Cup regular season events on the PGA TOUR schedule.

Established in 1904, the RBC Canadian Open is the second-oldest non-major on the PGA TOUR schedule behind BMW Championship (1899). TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley (North Course) will host the tournament for the second consecutive season.

Last year, it became the 38th golf course in tournament history (and only the eighth since 1977) to host the RBC Canadian Open. In 2023, the Doug Carrick-designed North Course underwent a major golf course renovation under the guidance o renowned architect Ian Andrew with consultation from the PGA TOUR for the venue to host large-scale, global championship level competition.

The RBC Canadian Open is one of four PGA TOUR events that is part of The Open Qualifying Series (OQS) where three spots will be available into The 154th Open at Royal Birkdale (July 16-19); the top three players, not otherwise exempt, who make the cut at the RBC Canadian Open will earn an exemption

The top 60 players in the Official World Golf Ranking following the RBC Canadian Open, not otherwise exempt, will qualify for next week’s U.S. Open.

DUBLIN, Ohio - J.T. Poston (P1/-12) earned his fourth career PGA TOUR victory in his 257th start at the age of 33 years, 6 days. His PGA TOUR wins (4): 2019 Wyndham Championship, 2022 John Deere Classic, 2024 Shriners Children’s Open, and this week’s 2026 Memorial Tournament presented by Workday.

Poston’s even-par 72 in the final round included birdies on three of his final five holes (Nos. 14, 15 and 18) as he moved to No. 32 in the FedExCup.

Poston entered the week without a finish inside the Top 20 in 13 starts this season.

Poston won the 11th playoff in Memorial Tournament history and the first since 2023 (Viktor Hovland def. Denny McCarthy).

DUBLIN, Ohio - This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday and the fifth year with Workday as the presenting sponsor. This year’s Memorial Tournament Honoree is David Graham, a two-time major champion and 1980 Memorial Tournament winner; additionally, the Captains Club will posthumously honor golf pioneer and early St. Andrews professional Allan Robertson during Wednesday afternoon’s ceremony.

Currently projected No. 3 in the Aon Swing 5 with the top-five earning a spot in next week’s Memorial Tournament presented by Workday, Dallas, Texas native Mac Meissner (T3/-10) trails by two in bid for his second Top-10 finish in his third start at the Charles Schwab Challenge (T5/2024, T28/2025).

Smith owns four Top-25 finishes in 14 starts on TOUR this season and his solo-third finish at the 2026 Valspar Championship marks career-best finish on TOUR.

Smith leads the field in Driving Accuracy (24 of 28) as he’s in search of his maiden title in his 33rd career start on TOUR.

Michael Thorbjornsen (T2/-9) posted a 5-under (65) to sit one shot off the lead after the second round. His T2 matches his best position after 36 holes on TOUR.

First round leader, Ryan Gerard (T2/-9), carded a 3-under (67) in the second round. He owns two runner-up finishes on TOUR this season (Sony Open in Hawaii, The American Express).
